Two angels with large gilded wings sit close together and jointly hold a fluted shell basin. Their heads incline towards one another, the robes falling in brown and olive green. Fonts of this kind hung beside the door for centuries.

Craftsmanship and painting
The terracotta cast is finished in muted earth tones, the wings are gilded and stand out clearly against the warm brown. A hanger sits on the back. The piece is made of slip-cast porcelain which gains its hardness and gloss in the firing. Painting and gilding are applied by hand after the firing and fired a second time.

Placement and effect

Material and care
